Birthday Chaos

Was it written in the stars? Am I destined to be the great mediator of families? Little did I know what the universe had in store for me yesterday! A simple sunday birthday brunch was the order of the day. 12 special friends were invited, 9 confirmed and 2 were a maybe... (pending the saturday night-my boyfriend-just-dumped-me-so-I'm heading out-wearing-my-shortest-shorts-and-painting-the-town-red-disclaimer**so might be a bit hungover).

So the plan was set and the menu confirmed.

First it started to rain, then the usual round of birthday phonecalls ensued from family situated across australia ... small levels of anxiety (being the perfectionist virgo) began as the running sheet was lost and my 5 x 3m townhouse was not going to fit all of these people!!!

And then more surprises, 2 more family members wanted to 'drop' in with their children ... so what should have been 9 sitting outside under my lovely garden umbrella turned into 13 adults, 4 kids and a dog sheltering from the elements!

Well the 2 siblings and respective partners broke their 4 year sabbatical of family silence, the 4 kids met cousins they didn't know existed, 2 snag's did the washing up in the 2 x1m kitchen, more champagned flowed and planet pizza came to the rescue and fed the remaining crew at 7.30pm!

And now I understand from Mr Cainer himself:
Your sign is Virgo. Your planet is Mercury. Your middle name is 'smart.' There's nothing you can do about this. You were born clever. Quick. sharp-minded. Fast-thinking. Sometimes, too much so for your own good. You don't always let others see how bright you truly are, but you are always careful who you listen to, what advice you take and who you allow you help you. Right now, you've got an urgent situation to sort out. Mercury is standing still, forming a conjunction to Mars. Nothing will go forward till you go back to the past, clear up an issue and move on. To do this, you'll need an assistant or companion you can trust. Thankfully, one is on hand.

and then there was:

The September Full Moon (all weekend). It frequently brings a tight focus on some big issue. Whatever this turns out to be for each of us, we find we can think of little else. By tonight, the Moon will be past full and more of us will see a wider picture.

Perhaps I am the mediator after all.
